Celerus Diagnostics was a medical technology company that specialized in the development of rapid immunohistochemistry (IHC) solutions for clinical and research pathology. The company's core innovation was the Wave RPD (Rapid Process Device), an automated system designed to accelerate the IHC staining process from several hours to approximately 15 minutes. This technology enabled "intra-operative IHC," allowing pathologists to provide definitive diagnostic results while a patient remained in the operating room. Celerus also developed a suite of optimized reagents and antibodies specifically for use with their rapid staining platform. In 2010, the company was acquired by Leica Biosystems, a division of Danaher, to strengthen Leica's position in the automated tissue diagnostics market. Today, the technology developed by Celerus continues to influence the speed and efficiency of pathology workflows globally.
