Overview
Cempra developed novel antibiotics targeting drug-resistant bacteria. Its lead asset solithromycin completed two Phase III trials for CABP but faced FDA rejection due to safety concerns and manufacturing issues. Fusidic acid completed a successful Phase III study for ABSSSI. Radezolid was in early clinical development for acne vulgaris at the time of the Melinta merger. The company merged with Melinta Therapeutics in August 2017 to form a leading anti-infectives company focused on commercializing Baxdela and advancing these pipeline assets.
