CENIC

The Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California (CENIC) is a non-profit organization that operates the California Research and Education Network (CalREN), a high-capacity fiber-optic network spanning over 8,000 miles. CENIC provides advanced networking services to more than 20 million users across California's research and education communities, including K-12 schools, community colleges, and major research universities. While not a biotech company, CENIC provides the critical high-speed data infrastructure necessary for large-scale life science research, genomic sequencing, and medical imaging. Its membership includes prestigious institutions such as the University of California system, Stanford University, and the California Institute of Technology.
