Center for Studying Health System Change

The Center for Studying Health System Change (HSC) was a non-partisan health policy research organization based in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1995 with primary funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the center focused on informing policy makers about changes in the U.S. health care system and their impact on people. HSC was widely recognized for its Community Tracking Study, which included large-scale surveys of households and physicians, as well as intensive site visits to representative communities. The organization provided objective, data-driven analysis on health care costs, insurance coverage, and delivery system reforms. In late 2013, HSC merged with Mathematica Policy Research to consolidate their health policy expertise and research capabilities.
