Center for the Study of Multiple Births

The Center for the Study of Multiple Birth (CSMB) was a non-profit research and educational organization based in Chicago, Illinois, dedicated to the study of twins, triplets, and higher-order multiples. Founded in 1977 by Dr. Louis Keith and his twin brother Donald Keith, the center focused on improving medical outcomes for mothers and their multiple-birth offspring through clinical research and professional education. It served as a global clearinghouse for information on gemellology, publishing numerous books and articles for both healthcare providers and families. The organization played a pivotal role in advancing the understanding of the unique physiological and psychological challenges associated with multiple gestations. CSMB was closely associated with the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Prentice Women's Hospital until it ceased operations following the passing of its founders.
