Company intelligence / Profile preview
Central Massachusetts Health Care (CMHC) was a prominent regional Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) based in Worcester, Massachusetts. Founded in 1979, the organization provided managed care services and health insurance plans to residents and employers throughout the Central Massachusetts region. At its peak, it was one of the largest HMOs in the state, recognized for its extensive network of local physicians and hospital affiliations. In 1995, CMHC was acquired by UnitedHealth Group, marking a significant consolidation in the regional healthcare market and transitioning the entity from a non-profit to a for-profit structure.
