Central Office for Scientific Pole

The Central Office for Scientific Pole (Oficina Central del Polo Científico) is the strategic management and coordinating body for the Havana Scientific Pole, Cuba's premier biotechnology and pharmaceutical cluster. Founded in 1992, the office integrates the activities of over 50 research-production centers to accelerate the transition of laboratory discoveries into medical products. It oversees a diverse portfolio of innovative biopharmaceuticals, including the world-renowned diabetic foot ulcer treatment Heberprot-P and the CIMAvax-EGF lung cancer vaccine. While now operating under the BioCubaFarma umbrella, the Central Office remains a pivotal entity in directing Cuba's life sciences strategy and international collaborations.
