Centre for Chinese Medicine Drug Development

The Centre for Chinese Medicine Drug Development (CCMDD) is a Hong Kong-based biotechnology research organization established under the InnoHK initiative by the Hong Kong Baptist University. The center focuses on transforming Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) into internationally recognized innovative drugs through modern scientific methodologies, including artificial intelligence, multi-omics, and advanced clinical trial designs. Its lead program, CDD-2101, is a botanical drug candidate for chronic constipation that has received IND approval from the US FDA for Phase 2 clinical trials. CCMDD operates as a collaborative hub, bridging the gap between ancient herbal wisdom and contemporary pharmaceutical standards to address unmet medical needs in gastroenterology and immunology.
