Centro Hospitalar Baixo Vouga

Centro Hospitalar do Baixo Vouga (CHBV) is a major public healthcare institution located in the Aveiro region of Portugal. It was established through the merger of three regional hospitals: Hospital Infante D. Pedro in Aveiro, Hospital Visconde de Salreu in Estarreja, and Hospital de Águeda. The center provides a comprehensive range of specialized medical and surgical services, including emergency care, oncology, and maternal-child health, to a population of approximately 300,000 residents. In 2024, CHBV was integrated into the Unidade Local de Saúde (ULS) Região de Aveiro to streamline the coordination between hospital and primary care. The institution also serves as a center for clinical research and medical education in partnership with regional academic institutions.
