Centrus International

Centrus International was a diagnostics company specializing in rapid microbiology testing solutions for the food, dairy, meat, and nutraceutical industries. Originally established as a subsidiary of Eastman Chemical Company, the firm developed and marketed the Soleris (formerly BioSys) and Envisio systems, which utilize optical technology to detect microbial contamination significantly faster than traditional culture methods. These platforms were designed to identify a wide range of organisms, including pathogens like E. coli and Salmonella, as well as spoilage-related bacteria, yeasts, and molds. In 2006, Centrus International was acquired by Neogen Corporation for $3.3 million, allowing Neogen to integrate these rapid testing technologies into its broader food safety portfolio.
