Cerylid Biosciences was an Australian biotechnology company that specialized in the discovery of novel drug candidates from natural sources. Spun out of the AMRAD Corporation in 2000, the company operated one of the world's largest and most diverse libraries of natural product extracts, featuring over 600,000 samples from plants, marine organisms, and microbes primarily sourced from the Asia-Pacific region. Cerylid's business model focused on using high-throughput screening to identify bioactive compounds for internal development and through strategic partnerships with global pharmaceutical companies like Aventis and Amgen. The company primarily targeted therapeutic areas such as oncology and inflammatory diseases. Following financial challenges in the mid-2000s, Cerylid underwent a restructuring process, and its significant natural product library was eventually acquired by EcoBiotics.
