Changshan ConjuChem, a Sino–foreign joint venture between Hebei Changshan Jiukang Biotechnology Co. Ltd. (a subsidiary of Hebei Changshan Biochemical Pharmaceutical Co.) and Los Angeles-based ConjuChem LLC, focuses on developing long–acting peptide therapeutics using proprietary DAC/PC-DAC bioconjugation platforms. Its lead program, Albenatide—a once-weekly GLP analog for type II diabetes—is in Phase I clinical trials in China with plans to advance to Phase II. The company also has an oncology program targeting advanced cancers at the Phase I stage. The JV leverages both partners’ expertise to address major unmet needs in chronic disease management within China’s large diabetic population.[1][2][3][5]
