Charterhouse Group International (now Charterhouse Group) was a New York-based private equity firm that focused on mid-market buyouts, with a significant historical emphasis on the healthcare and life sciences sectors. Founded in 1973, the firm was known for its "Entrepreneur Management" approach, partnering with seasoned industry executives to build platform companies through organic growth and strategic acquisitions. In the healthcare space, Charterhouse was responsible for the development of several major entities, including the medical staffing firm Cross Country Healthcare and the consumer health company Amerifit Brands. The firm also ventured into drug development by backing Charterhouse Therapeutics, a biotech focused on antiviral and anti-inflammatory therapies.
