Company intelligence / Profile preview
Chesapeake Research Review, operating as Chesapeake IRB, was a leading provider of independent institutional review board (IRB) services for the life sciences industry. Headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, the company specialized in the ethical review of clinical research protocols to ensure the protection of human subjects in pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device trials. Chesapeake was a pioneer in the digital transformation of the IRB process, utilizing its proprietary cloud-based platform, CIRBI, to provide efficient, paperless, and transparent protocol reviews. In November 2017, the company merged with Schulman IRB to form Advarra, creating the premier provider of IRB and research compliance services in North America. Prior to the merger, Chesapeake was a portfolio company of Linden Capital Partners and was the first independent IRB to receive AAHRPP accreditation.
