Chitogen was a medical device company specializing in the development of advanced hemostatic products derived from chitosan. The company's flagship product, ChitoGauze, is a flexible hemostatic gauze designed to control moderate to severe bleeding in trauma and surgical settings. Chitogen's technology leverages the naturally mucoadhesive properties of chitosan to promote rapid clot formation and provide antibacterial protection. The company was acquired by HemCon Medical Technologies in 2008 to expand their portfolio of wound care and hemorrhage control solutions. Its products have been widely adopted by military and emergency medical services for hemorrhage control.
