Company intelligence / Profile preview
ChloraPrep is a leading brand of preoperative skin antiseptics, originally developed by Medi-Flex (later renamed Enturia) and currently owned by Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD). The product line features a patented applicator system that delivers a solution of 2% chlorhexidine gluconate and 70% isopropyl alcohol. It is designed to reduce the risk of surgical site infections (SSIs) and catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs) by providing rapid and persistent antimicrobial activity. ChloraPrep is widely recognized as a gold standard in clinical settings for skin preparation before invasive procedures. The brand has undergone several ownership changes, moving from Enturia to Cardinal Health in 2008, and finally to BD in 2017 as part of a multi-billion dollar acquisition.
