Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery

The Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery (CMKI) is a world-renowned non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of hand and upper extremity surgery through education and research. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, the institute is globally recognized for its fellowship program, which has trained over 1,200 surgeons from more than 60 countries. CMKI gained international prominence for performing the first successful hand transplant in the United States and continues to lead in microsurgical techniques and transplantation immunology. The institute operates in close collaboration with the Kleinert Kutz Hand Care Center and the University of Louisville to bridge the gap between clinical practice and scientific innovation.
