Chromatide

Chromatide was a biotechnology company specializing in the development of advanced polymers and resins for the solid-phase synthesis of peptides and oligonucleotides. Originally founded in 2000 as a spin-out from the University of Southampton, the company's initial technology was acquired by Polymer Laboratories in 2002, eventually becoming part of Agilent Technologies. A subsequent iteration of the company was established in 2005 to focus on automated continuous-flow synthesis instrumentation and proprietary high-loading resins. A major milestone for the company was its strategic partnership with Novasep, which aimed to combine Chromatide's synthesis expertise with Novasep's large-scale purification and chromatography systems. The company's innovations were designed to reduce manufacturing costs and improve the scalability of complex biomolecule production for the pharmaceutical industry. Although the company is no longer active, its foundational work in polymer chemistry and synthesis automation remains influential in the field of peptide therapeutics.
