Ciba Corning Diagnostics

Ciba Corning Diagnostics was a prominent medical diagnostics company established in 1985 as a joint venture between Ciba-Geigy and Corning. The company specialized in the development and manufacture of automated clinical laboratory instruments and reagents, with a particular focus on blood gas analysis and immunodiagnostics. Its flagship product, the ACS:180, was a pioneering high-throughput system that utilized chemiluminescence technology to automate immunoassay testing. Following a series of corporate transitions, including becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ciba-Geigy and later part of Chiron, the business was acquired by Bayer in 1998. Today, its technological legacy continues as part of Siemens Healthineers, which acquired Bayer's diagnostics division in 2006.
