CIBC Capital Partners

CIBC Capital Partners was the private equity and venture capital investment arm of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC). Headquartered in Toronto, the firm provided equity, mezzanine financing, and bridge loans to middle-market companies across North America and Europe. The firm was a notable investor in the life sciences and healthcare sectors, providing capital to support drug development, medical devices, and healthcare services. In 2009, CIBC underwent a strategic shift and sold a significant portion of its private equity fund interests to a consortium led by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. Following this transaction, the CIBC Capital Partners management team spun out to form Northleaf Capital Partners, an independent global private markets manager.
