Company intelligence / Profile preview
CicloMulsion was a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing a lipid emulsion formulation of cyclosporine for the prevention of reperfusion injury in patients undergoing treatment for myocardial infarction. The company's lead candidate, also named CicloMulsion, was designed to inhibit cyclophilin D, a key mediator of mitochondrial permeability transition pore opening during ischemia-reperfusion. Despite reaching Phase 3 clinical trials (the CIRCUS study), the program failed to meet its primary endpoints, leading to the cessation of development for that specific indication. The company was acquired by NeuroVive Pharmaceutical (now Abliva) to consolidate their mitochondrial medicine portfolio.
