Company intelligence / Profile preview
CID (Carbon Implants Device) was a prominent Italian medical device company focused on the development and manufacturing of interventional cardiology products. The company gained international recognition for its proprietary Carbofilm coating and its polymer-free drug-eluting stent (DES) technology, notably the Cre8 stent system. These technologies were designed to enhance the biocompatibility of implants and optimize drug release kinetics for treating complex coronary artery disease, particularly in diabetic patients. CID's portfolio also included passive stents and heart valve components utilizing advanced carbon-based materials. In 2013, CID was acquired by the Turkish medical device group Alvimedica. This acquisition allowed Alvimedica to integrate CID's advanced R&D and manufacturing facilities in Saluggia, Italy, into its global cardiovascular business operations.
