CIMA Labs is a specialty pharmaceutical company that pioneered the development of orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) and oral transmucosal drug delivery technologies. Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Minnesota, the company is renowned for its proprietary platforms, including OraSolv, DuraSolv, and OraVescent, which enable rapid drug dissolution and enhanced absorption. These technologies have been utilized in several high-profile products such as Fentora for breakthrough cancer pain and licensed to major partners like GSK, Merck, and AstraZeneca. CIMA Labs was acquired by Cephalon in 2004 for approximately $515 million and subsequently became part of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries in 2011.
