Company intelligence / Profile preview
Circe Bioscience has developed a proprietary gas fermentation process that uses engineered microbes to convert carbon dioxide, water, and electricity into high-value organic molecules. Their process removes 3 kg of CO₂ per 1 kg of product. The initial focus includes producing food-grade fats like cocoa butter as well as biodegradable plastics, with broader applications across chemicals and fuels. The technology spun out from Harvard’s Wyss Institute in 2021 and has received significant funding including $3.2M from ARPA-E ECOSynBio.
