Company intelligence / Profile preview
Citicorp Venture Capital (CVC) was the private equity and venture capital investment arm of Citigroup, established in 1968. The firm was a pioneer in the private equity industry, engaging in leveraged buyouts, growth equity, and venture capital investments across a broad range of industries, including healthcare, technology, and industrials. The firm eventually split into independent entities; the European arm became the independent CVC Capital Partners, while the US-based team spun off in 2010 to form Court Square Capital Partners. Throughout its history, CVC was a significant financier for various life science and healthcare services companies. Although the Citicorp Venture Capital name is no longer used for new investments, its legacy continues through its successor firms. It played a crucial role in the development of the modern private equity landscape.
