Company intelligence / Profile preview
Clarient was a U.S.-based cancer diagnostics company specializing in advanced digital pathology and molecular testing solutions for oncologists and pathologists. Founded originally as MicroVision Medical Systems in the mid-'90s before rebranding as ChromaVision then Clarient, it pioneered automated cellular image analysis systems before evolving into a full-service commercial laboratory offering cutting-edge oncology tests including flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry. After rapid growth under CEO Ron Andrews—with significant investment from Safeguard Scientifics—the company was acquired by GE Healthcare for $587 million around early 2011, then sold again to NeoGenomics at the end of 2015. At its peak it employed over four hundred people across California/Texas labs with annual revenues exceeding $120 million, serving both hospital clients and pharmaceutical partners seeking precision medicine solutions.
