Cleveland Biosensors

Cleveland Biosensors was an Australian biotechnology company that specialized in the development of portable, handheld diagnostic instruments for point-of-care testing. A spin-off from the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) and James Cook University, the company commercialized the BioFiniti platform, which utilized microfluidic technology to detect marine toxins, pathogens, and chemical residues in real-time. The company's primary focus was on food safety and environmental monitoring, specifically targeting the detection of paralytic shellfish toxins in seafood to prevent foodborne illness. Despite receiving venture capital backing and launching its lead product, the company ceased operations and was deregistered in 2011.
