Overview
Clever Culture Systems, formerly known as LBT Innovations, has commercialized the APAS Independence platform—an FDA-cleared AI-driven device for automated imaging, analysis, and interpretation of microbiology culture plates. The system is validated for both clinical infectious disease diagnostics and environmental monitoring in pharmaceutical manufacturing. It is being adopted by major pharma companies such as AstraZeneca and Bristol Myers Squibb. Clinical trials have demonstrated that APAS Independence can process over 200 plates per hour with greater accuracy than manual reading[8][9][10].
