Clinical Biotechnology Centre

The Clinical Biotechnology Centre (CBC) is a specialized contract manufacturing organization (CMO) operated by NHS Blood and Transplant in the United Kingdom. It provides Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) grade products to support clinical trials, specifically focusing on the production of plasmid DNA, viral vectors, and recombinant proteins. The centre plays a critical role in the UK's life sciences infrastructure by bridging the gap between research and clinical application for cell and gene therapies. Recently, the CBC expanded its operations with a new state-of-the-art facility in Filton, Bristol, designed to increase the UK's capacity for manufacturing advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs).
