Clinton HIV

The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization dedicated to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. Founded in 2002 as the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative, it initially focused on addressing the HIV/AIDS crisis by negotiating price reductions for antiretroviral drugs and diagnostics. CHAI works by partnering with governments to strengthen health systems and with the private sector to improve market dynamics for life-saving medicines. The organization has played a pivotal role in scaling up HIV treatment globally, helping to lower the cost of treatment by over 90 percent. Today, CHAI's work extends beyond HIV to include malaria, tuberculosis, hepatitis, and maternal and child health. It operates as a non-profit entity, focusing on sustainable health solutions and market-based interventions.
