Company intelligence / Profile preview
China Medical Technologies developed and commercialized High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) devices for non-invasive ablation of solid and benign tumors. Clinical studies demonstrated efficacy in ablating liver malignancies and other solid cancers, with some trials showing improved survival when combined with other therapies such as TACE for liver cancer. The company sold its entire HIFU tumor therapy system business to Chengxuan International Ltd. in December 2008 due to adverse market conditions and a strategic shift toward IVD products.
