The Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica (CNEA) is the Argentine government agency responsible for nuclear energy research, development, and applications, with a significant focus on the life sciences and healthcare sectors. As a leading producer of radioisotopes in Latin America, CNEA supplies essential materials like Molybdenum-99 and Iodine-131 for diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy. The organization operates several nuclear centers, including the Ezeiza Atomic Center, which houses production facilities and research reactors. CNEA is also a pioneer in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) and maintains strong partnerships with nuclear medicine centers to advance oncological treatments. Its activities span the entire value chain from basic research and isotope production to the development of advanced radiopharmaceuticals. The commission is currently expanding its capabilities through the construction of the RA-10 multipurpose reactor to bolster global supply chains.
