CNSBio

CNSBio (later renamed Relevare Pharmaceuticals) was an Australian clinical-stage biotechnology company spun out of Monash University to develop novel therapies for severe and chronic pain. The company's pipeline focused on repositioning and combining existing drugs as well as developing novel peptide therapeutics derived from marine conotoxins. Its lead candidate, CNSB015 (flupirtine), was being prepared for Phase 2b/3 clinical trials in combination with opioids for the treatment of opioid-resistant cancer-related neuropathic pain and HIV-associated sensory neuropathy. Additionally, the company developed leconotide (AM-336), a Phase 1 omega-conotoxin peptide that selectively blocks N-type voltage-gated calcium channels to alleviate severe pain via systemic administration. Due to funding challenges, the company entered liquidation in June 2014 and is no longer active.
