Company intelligence / Profile preview
Coelacanth Chemical Corporation was a medicinal chemistry company specializing in the design and synthesis of diverse small molecule libraries for drug discovery. Based in East Windsor, New Jersey, the company developed a proprietary technology platform called LexiChem, which combined automated synthesis with computational design to accelerate lead optimization. In July 2000, it was acquired by Lexicon Genetics (now Lexicon Pharmaceuticals) to integrate its chemistry capabilities with Lexicon’s functional genomics platform. This merger was a strategic move that allowed Lexicon to transform from a genomics-focused entity into a vertically integrated drug discovery and development organization.
