Coherex Medical

The company developed the Coherex WaveCrest Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion System, a device designed to permanently occlude the LAA in high-risk atrial fibrillation patients to reduce stroke risk. The system received CE Mark approval in September 2013 but was not available for investigational or commercial use in the United States at the time of acquisition[1][2]. Clinical results highlighted substantial benefits for Afib patients at high risk of stroke, especially those contraindicated to anticoagulants[1][2]. After its acquisition by Biosense Webster (a Johnson & Johnson company) in November 2015, further development and commercialization were integrated into Biosense Webster’s portfolio.
