Collaborative Academic Labs (CAL) is a clinical research site network that specializes in conducting Phase 1 through Phase 4 clinical trials, with a core focus on dermatology and immunology. Founded by world-renowned academic dermatologists Dr. Mark Lebwohl and Dr. James Krueger, the organization was established to bridge the gap between high-level academic research and the operational efficiency of private clinical trials. CAL provides pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors with access to specialized patient populations and expert investigators for complex inflammatory disease studies. In July 2022, the company was acquired by Velocity Clinical Research, a global leader in clinical site management, to enhance its specialty research capabilities. The acquisition integrated CAL’s high-performing sites in New York and Los Angeles into Velocity’s extensive global network.
