Collagen

Collagen Corporation was a pioneering biotechnology company founded in 1975 that specialized in the development and commercialization of collagen-based medical products. The company is best known for receiving the first FDA approval for an injectable collagen product, Zyderm, used for the correction of facial wrinkles and scars. Beyond aesthetics, the company expanded its platform into therapeutic areas such as urology with Contigen for urinary incontinence and orthopedics for bone and cartilage repair. Collagen Corporation was a major player in the early biotech industry before being acquired by Inamed Corporation in 1999, which was subsequently acquired by Allergan (now part of AbbVie).
