Colorado Biotechnology Associates (CBA) was a specialty biotechnology company that specialized in the development and manufacture of functionalized polymeric resins used in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). Founded in 1981 by Dr. Rodger Raubach and based in Casper, Wyoming, the company produced a wide range of specialty resins, including Knorr-MBHA, Wang, and aminoethyl resins, which are essential for combinatorial chemistry and the production of peptide-based therapeutics. CBA's technology enabled the attachment of specific terminal amino acids to resins used as solid-state supports, facilitating the scale-up of peptide production. In January 2006, the company's technology assets and customer lists were acquired by Synthetech, Inc., a provider of peptide building blocks. This acquisition allowed Synthetech to expand its offerings into the specialty resin market for GMP peptide manufacturing.
