Company intelligence / Profile preview
Combio Pharmaceuticals was a drug discovery company that utilized a proprietary combinatorial biology platform to identify novel therapeutic targets and small molecule leads. Founded in 1998 by Dr. Peter Schultz and based in Richmond, California, the company focused on high-throughput screening of mammalian cells to uncover biological pathways and drug candidates. In 2001, Combio was acquired by Deltagen for approximately $50 million, allowing Deltagen to integrate Combio's chemistry and screening capabilities with its own mammalian genetics and target validation technologies. The company was a pioneer in applying combinatorial methods to mammalian cell biology to accelerate the drug discovery process.
