Company intelligence / Profile preview
Comdisco was a leading provider of technology leasing and disaster recovery services that became a vital financial partner to the life sciences and healthcare industries. Through its Comdisco Healthcare Group and Comdisco Ventures divisions, the company offered specialized equipment leasing and venture debt to emerging biotech startups and established medical facilities. At its peak, it was one of the largest independent leasing companies in the world, providing the capital infrastructure necessary for laboratory and clinical expansion. Following a bankruptcy filing in 2001, the company's healthcare-related assets and portfolio were acquired by GE Healthcare. While not a therapeutic developer, Comdisco's role in financing the biotech boom of the 1990s remains a significant part of the industry's history.
