Community Health Development

Community Health Development is a Texas-based non-profit federally qualified health center that provides integrated primary medical, dental, and mental/behavioral health services in medically underserved rural communities. The organization operates multiple care sites in and around Uvalde, Leakey, and Camp Wood and also provides laboratory, pharmacy, imaging, preventive, reproductive health, and care coordination services. CHDI describes itself as a Patient Centered Medical Home and is supported in part by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services grant funding. Rather than operating a biotech or drug-development pipeline, the organization focuses on direct healthcare delivery, community wellness, and access expansion for underserved populations. It also developed a multi-purpose community health center in Uvalde following the 2022 Robb Elementary School tragedy to expand physical, behavioral, and emotional health resources in the region.
