CompanionMx was a digital health company that specialized in the proactive monitoring of mental health through acoustic and behavioral biomarkers. Spun out from Cogito and based on research from Harvard Medical School and MIT Lincoln Laboratory, the company developed the Companion system, a smartphone-based platform that analyzed voice and phone usage patterns. This technology provided clinicians with objective, real-time insights into the mental states of patients suffering from depression and bipolar disorder. The company aimed to bridge the gap between clinical visits by identifying early warning signs of relapse through AI-driven analysis. CompanionMx was eventually re-integrated or acquired by its parent company, Cogito, which continues to utilize the underlying behavioral AI technology.
