Comptronix Corporation was an electronics contract manufacturing services (EMS) provider based in Guntersville, Alabama. Founded in 1984, the company specialized in the design and assembly of printed circuit boards for various industries, including medical, computer, and telecommunications. It was notably a major supplier for GE Medical, producing components for diagnostic imaging equipment such as CAT scans and X-ray machines. The company became infamous in the early 1990s for a massive accounting fraud involving the overstatement of earnings, which led to its eventual bankruptcy filing in 1996 and the sale of its assets. While it operated as a contract manufacturer rather than a drug developer, its role in the healthcare sector was significant through its production of critical medical device components. The company's historical ticker symbol, CMPX, is now associated with the biotechnology firm Compass Therapeutics.
