Company intelligence / Profile preview
Consorzio Mario Negri Sud was a prominent Italian non-profit biomedical research center and consortium located in Santa Maria Imbaro. Founded in 1987 as a partnership between the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research and local regional authorities, it specialized in clinical pharmacology, epidemiology, and molecular biology. The institute was internationally recognized for coordinating large-scale clinical trials, most notably the GISSI studies which significantly influenced the global treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Beyond clinical research, the center operated as a hub for scientific training and provided specialized laboratory services to the broader healthcare community. Despite its scientific prestige, the consortium faced severe financial difficulties and officially entered liquidation, ceasing its operations around 2015.
