Company intelligence / Profile preview
Convergencies was a French biotechnology company specialized in the development of cell therapy products for the treatment of cancer, particularly focusing on dendritic cell-based immunotherapies. Founded as a spin-off from the Institut Curie, the company pioneered techniques for the ex vivo maturation and loading of dendritic cells to stimulate a patient's immune system against tumor antigens. Its lead programs targeted high-unmet-need oncology indications such as melanoma and renal cell carcinoma. In 1999, Convergencies merged with Immuno-Designed Molecules (IDM) to form a leading European player in the immunotherapy space. The combined entity, IDM Pharma, was eventually acquired by Takeda (via Millennium Pharmaceuticals) following the FDA approval of its lead product, Mepact.
