Cooper Laboratories was a U.S. healthcare company that evolved from a diversified pharmaceutical and medical products business into what is now The Cooper Companies, branded as CooperCompanies. Historically, the company operated across pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and specialty healthcare, and later reorganized into businesses including CooperVision and CooperSurgical. The original Cooper Laboratories corporate name is no longer active, having been renamed The Cooper Companies in 1987 rather than acquired by another company. Its modern successor is a publicly traded commercial-stage medical device company focused on contact lenses, fertility, genomics, and women's health products.
