Cooperative Research Centre for Vaccine Technology

The Cooperative Research Centre for Vaccine Technology (CRC-VT) was an Australian research consortium established in 1993 to bridge the gap between basic immunological research and commercial vaccine development. Operating as part of the Australian Government's CRC Program, the centre focused on novel vaccine delivery systems, adjuvants, and the discovery of antigens for infectious diseases and cancer. Its most significant commercial achievement was the development and licensing of the ISCOMATRIX adjuvant technology to CSL Limited, which has been utilized in numerous clinical vaccine candidates. The CRC-VT integrated expertise from major Australian institutions, including CSL, the University of Queensland, and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. Although the centre's formal funding and operations concluded in 2006, its research outputs and technologies continue to influence the global vaccine landscape through its partner organizations.
