Company intelligence / Profile preview
Corange Ltd. was a Bermuda-based holding company that owned the Boehringer Mannheim Group and DePuy Inc. It operated as one of the world's largest privately held healthcare companies until its acquisition by Roche in 1998 for $11 billion. The company was a dominant force in the global diagnostics market, particularly in blood glucose monitoring, and had a strong presence in therapeutics for anemia and cardiovascular health. Following the acquisition, Roche integrated the diagnostics and pharmaceutical divisions, while the orthopedic business, DePuy, was sold to Johnson & Johnson. This transaction transformed Roche into a global leader in the diagnostics industry.
