Core Technology Alliance

The Core Technology Alliance (CTA) was a collaborative network of advanced technology service facilities established to support the life sciences industry in Michigan. Formed in the early 2000s through the Michigan Life Sciences Corridor initiative, the CTA integrated specialized laboratories at the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Wayne State University, and the Van Andel Research Institute. The alliance provided critical research services, including high-throughput DNA sequencing, proteomics, bioinformatics, and biological imaging, to both academic researchers and private biotechnology firms. By centralizing state-of-the-art equipment and expertise, the CTA aimed to accelerate drug discovery and translational genomics while fostering economic development within the state's biotech sector.
