Corning Diagnostics

Corning Diagnostics was a prominent division of Corning Incorporated that specialized in clinical diagnostic instruments and laboratory testing services. In 1996, Corning underwent a major strategic restructuring of its healthcare businesses, spinning off its clinical laboratory services into an independent public company known today as Quest Diagnostics. Simultaneously, the diagnostic products and instrumentation business, which focused on blood gas and clinical chemistry systems, was sold to Bayer AG for approximately $600 million. This instrumentation business was later integrated into Siemens Healthineers following Bayer's divestiture of its diagnostics division in 2006. Today, the legacy of Corning Diagnostics persists through the market-leading positions of Quest Diagnostics and the diagnostic platforms of Siemens.
